Accies, Well and Saints win

Flavio Paixao headed an injury-time goal to give Hamilton Accies a 1-0 win over St Mirren and move them six points clear of danger at the bottom of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.

The Portuguese striker beat goalkeeper Paul Gallacher to seal Hamilton's first home win of 2010 and leave the Paisley Saints without a victory in the league since the middle of January, just when it seemed the sides were set for their second goalless draw in the space of a fortnight.

Falkirk remain four points adrift after a 2-1 home defeat to St Johnstone, who still harbour hopes of making the top six. Marc Twaddle netted a close-range opener for the Bairns in 27 minutes but Liam Craig equalised against his former club with a penalty at the end of the first half. Kenny Deuchar, another ex-Falkirk player, lobbed the winner with six minutes left.

Craig Brown'sMotherwell made it 12 games without loss to go above Hibernian and level on points with third-placed Dundee United thanks to a 3-1 Fir Park victory over Hearts. Mark Reynolds and John Sutton had the Steelmen two goals ahead inside 13 minutes and Jim O'Brien lashed in the third midway through the second half. David Templeton pulled one back soon after.
