United edge out Hearts
A deflected goal from Morgaro Gomis 12 minutes from the end gave Dundee United a 1-0 win over Hearts in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League at Tannadice on Sunday afternoon.
The former Cowdenbeath midfielder scored twice in last weekend's 3-0 defeat of Falkirk and his shot went in off Lee Wallace to give Peter Houston's men their third win in four SPL games.
Dundee United created more of the chances on the day and the result lifts them above Hibernian and into third place while Hearts stay in sixth spot, seven points ahead of Aberdeen.
Dundee United manager Peter Houston said: "We must have a midfield player in the box and Morgaro has taken me to task on that one and he's become a machine. I'm delighted with the three points today because you never get an easy game against a Hearts team."
Hearts boss Jim Jefferies said: "Paul Mulrooney covered every blade of grass, tackled well, competed, passed it quite well. What a terrific plus for us when you see a young kid like that."
