Six-goal thriller at Falkirk

Mark Stewart came off the bench to score a dramatic late equaliser as bottom club Falkirk and leaders Celtic played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at The Falkirk Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

All the goals came in the second half on a day when Eddie May's men produced a performance that belied their lowly status and at one stage appeared to be heading for their first win.

Falkirk looked good in the first half but needed a superb double save from Robert Olejnik to keep out Aiden McGeady's penalty and the rebound after Alex MacDonald had tripped Danny Fox.

Celtic took the lead early in the second half when Gary Caldwell headed home a Barry Robson cross but Scott Arfield levelled from the spot after Caldwell had impeded Ryan Flynn and Pedro Moutinho then fired the Bairns in front with a goal in his first game back at the club.

Substitute Scott McDonald pounced from crosses in 72 and 79 minutes as Celtic hit back but fellow sub Stewart drove the equaliser past Lukasz Zaluska with seven minutes left.

Falkirk boss Eddie May said: "Ryan Flynn and Pedro Moutinho weren't meant to be playing but had to come in after injuries to Sean Lynch and Carl Finnigan. So, sometimes you're better being lucky because those two were excellent. We've got a good base but we don't have much depth."

Celtic manager Tony Mowbray said: "It was probably as poor as we've been this season and the team didn't play well in the first half. It was the same defence which kept a clean sheet in Hamburg but mentally it was a tough day for the team. Credit to Falkirk, they played particularly well."
