Deadline day deals

Aberdeen have freed 23-year-old striker Michael Paton, who had been at Pittodrie since 2005.

Celtic have snapped up 23-year-old Nigeria international defender Efe Ambrose on a three-year deal from FC Ashdod in Israel.

He told the club's official website: "Today is one of the happiest days of my life, signing for one of the biggest clubs in the world - a club I have known about since I was young.

"I am the kind of player who plays where it is of benefit to the team. If the manager trusts me to play in midfield or defence, then I trust him and I am the kind of player who will give 100 per cent."

Celtic have landed 27-year-old Venezuela striker Nicolas Fedor, also known as Miku, on a season-long loan deal from Getafe in Spain.

Celtic's
third new recruit is 25-year-old Slovakia goalkeeper Lubos Kamenar from French side Nantes and Neil Lennon is hoping to add another striker after the deadline.

Dundee United have turned down bids for both Johnny Russell and Gary Mackay-Steven.

A club spokesman said: "The offers fell substantially short of our valuation of the players and the bids were rejected. The club are delighted that both remain Dundee United players and we can now focus on achieving our aspirations on the pitch."

Hearts
have re-signed former Ayr midfielder Ryan Stevenson on a three-year deal from Ipswich Town, just seven months after he left Tynecastle for Portman Road.

Boss John McGlynn said: "He is a quality player and can be used in a number of roles. He's physically strong and will be an asset to this Hearts team. When I heard he wanted to return it was a simple decision for me to make. He gives us more options and that is to be welcomed."

Hearts winger David Templeton has moved to Rangers on a long-term deal.

Hibernian
have added Manchester City left-back Ryan McGivern on loan until January. The 22-year-old Northern Ireland internationalist has played for several clubs in his career, including Crystal Palace and Bristol City.

Hibernian defender David Stephens has left Easter Road to sign for Barnet in League Two while youngsters Scott Smith and Jordon Forster have gone on loan to East Fife.

Hibernian defender Callum Booth has joined First Division Livingston on a season-long loan deal. Fellow defender Sean O'Hanlon has been released by the Easter Road club.

Inverness CT
have added Arsenal's teenage striker Philip Roberts to their squad, with the Irishman moving on loan until January.

Caley Thistle manager Terry Butcher said: "Arsenal have agreed to let Philip sign for us until the next transfer window and we're very grateful for their help.

"This is the beginning of a partnership with Arsenal that will help their younger players gain first team experience with Inverness Caley Thistle in this season and the future. I am extremely thankful to Liam Brady for his first class help and assistance."

Inverness CT have signed former Arsenal defender George Brislen-Hall.

Inverness CT
have also signed Celtic defender Andre Blackman on loan until January.

Kilmarnock youngster Matthew Kennedy has earned a three-year deal with Everton despite making just a handful of first-team appearances at Rugby Park.

St Johnstone have released former Dundee striker Sean Higgins, who has joined Falkirk.

St Mirren have taken 20-year-old Newcastle defender Paul Dummett on loan until January.

Saints boss Danny Lennon said: "I first came across him a year ago but I got a call yesterday afternoon which reignited interest. It works well for both parties and I am delighted."

Not a signing as such but Motherwell today confirmed the appointment of former Hibernian, Rangers and Finland forward Jonatan Johansson as their new Under 20 coach.
