Derby delight for United

Jon Daly hit a hat-trick as Dundee United beat city rivals Dundee 3-0 in a friendly match on Saturday in front of more than 10,000 fans at Dens Park.

Rory Fallon, Josh Magennis, Mitch Megginson, Michael Paton and Scott Vernon were all on target as Aberdeen thrashed Second Division Arbroath 5-1 at Gayfield.

John McGlynn returned to Stark's Park and guided Hearts to a 3-0 win over Raith in a testimonial for Laurie Ellis. Calum Paterson, John Sutton and David Templeton got the goals.

Ivan Sproule and new signing Tim Clancy scored in a 2-0 victory for Hibernian against East Fife at Bayview while a Nick Ross goal earned Inverness CT a 1-0 win at Elgin.

Ross County saw off Highland League Clachnacuddin 3-0 with goals from Kurtis Byrne, Martin Scott and Colin McMenamin.

Gary Harkins and Rory McKenzie had Kilmarnock 2-0 up against Livingston at Grangemouth Stadium but the First Division team hit back to win 3-2.

It was an afternoon to forget for Motherwell, who crashed 4-0 to Ayr United at Somerset Park.

St Johnstone defeated Partick Thistle 2-1 in a closed-door match.
